The thing i find funny is that when you compare astrology and ID, it is astrology that has more scientific merit as a scientific theory (namely that it is a model based on observed (although subjective) evidence that can be used to make predictions).

Wrong. Newtonian Mechanics is traditionally deterministic. Quantum Mechanics casts a lot of doubt on determinism however.

Scientific studies done to isolate this have, however, shown *no* correlation, contrary to the beliefs of those involved. In other words, the Moon’s phase doesn’t seem to have any affect on the number of crimes committed. You’re right about everything else though.

Matt seems to be ignoring the First Amendment here. Sad as it is, some fortune tellers and astrologers actually believe in this stuff just as much as the people that pay them. He seems to be asking the states to legislate common sense, but we can’t do that because of the Constitution.
It’s one thing to tell people not to give their hard earned money to televangelists or palm-readers, it’s quite another to pass a law telling people not to.

It still baffles me why people believe Astrology, much like I do with people who believe clairvoyants; it all boils down to the same thing: Saying things in a way so that people think they’ll apply to them.
Carl Sagan once said something like ‘The vast majority of newspapers carry a daily column for astrology, yet hardly any have one for astronomy’, that’s just retarded in this day and age.
