That’s what is said. But I would say look at my chart and judge for yourself.
My Uranus is conjunct Mercury, close to the cusp of the rising, in Sagittarius and opposite my moon. By definition Uranus in 1st should make me a natural astrologer (or an eccentric person). Whether I am, I don’t know… I’ve been very out of touch with Astrology for the last couple of months.

A person witha prominent Uranus, Neptune and even Pluto shows an attraction to Astrology. However, these same planets arre also associated with other types of work.
Uranus, is the planet of Astrology and it prominent in charts of Astrologers. But those who follow professional astrology with some degree of success have a prominent Jupiter. A prominent Mercury maps thoughts cells of a studious nature necessary to an astrologer.
Basically, there are 3 types of astrologers……
Those with active Mars in close aspect with Mercury indicates mathematical ability in erecting a chart.
Those with a dominant Neptune but with a weak Uranus, Mars, Mercury, lacks ability and initiative to work at scientific delineation, depending upon their psychic faculties alone
Then finally, you have the typical scientific Uranian Astrologer who does the most valuable work, by combining mathematics and psychical abilities.
A prominent Pluto would assist the astrologer to understand how the planetary energies operate and what to expect form them.
Aside from the signs, what I have indicated is pretty spot on.
I have Uranus conj. Ascendant in Gemini, Moon/Sagittarius
Moon sextile Jupiter, sextile Neptune, trine Pluto
Jupiter conj. Neptune, Mercury trine Uranus
Neptune, Pluto sextile Ascendant

This is a more modern association… astrology used to be associated with Mercury & Jupiter. Some say that’s because astrology was once widely accepted, and now that it’s not so much anymore that it belongs to the “outsider”, rebel realm of Uranus. (Keep in mind also that Uranus is a more generational influence: the sign is less important than the house it falls in.)
As far as natal charts go, I think it depends on the astrologer. I have more Mercury & Jupiter prominence. I have another astrologer friend who’s all about Uranus. I know some astrologers who are very Neptunian types, and so on.
In my personal experience though, I find Uranus transits to be more indicative of when someone will get interested in astrology, and start studying and later practicing. Especially when it hits the angles of the chart.
