Why oh why don’t one of you whinging astrologers get off your backside & put astrology to the test & demonstrate some positive test results. All you do is whinge and moan about Randi et al as if they have committed some crime, when all that has been done is expose how people can be mislead by an astro reading. Surely the collective wisdom (?) of a few astrologers can demonstrate something to convince the skeptics they may be wrong. Are any of you capable of grasping this concept? I doubt it.

Mr. Randi wasn’t even looking for answers, he already had HIS answer: all astrologers are frauds and/or deluded people. The tests were constructed in order to reinforce this idea, they were not meant for objective research. A true scientist can overcome his own ego to dig a little deeper, it’s about science, not about him.

Mr. Randi needs to combine Chinese astrology (which has been practiced and believed by Asian culture for thousands of year) in combination with Western TROPICAL astrology. Playing on the ego’s of this classroom using the universal desire to overcome nature as a basis for justifying HIS Beliefs. Remember people, James Randi is A MAGICIAN AND AN ENTERTAINER, Not a Scientist. A real scientist is never so smug; they keep searching for answers, even just to know WHY people believe.

I agree, science is full of theories. Now you understand the definition of a theory you understand why.

If “science” was full of unproven ideas, speculation, blind ignorance it would be called “astrology”.

Wrong, you have a layman’s understanding of the word “theory”.

The definition as used in the scientific community is more meaningful.

Theory: A theory is more like a scientific law than a hypothesis. A theory is an explanation of a set of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses and verified multiple times by detached groups of researchers. One scientist cannot create a theory; he can only create a hypothesis.

No contemplation, no speculation. Those are astrological. LOL

Without looking anything up - theories are based upon our thoughts around what ’should be’. Our past thoughts follow through to another assumption and a theory follows. The theory is either proven or not. Science is still full of theories as contemplation, speculation. Casual use by scientists of the word theory can be used flexibly to refer to whatever kind of explanation or prediction is being examined. Science is still full of theories.
