I think it should be dog because chinese new year is different,
so if you were born on the January 25, 1982- February 12, 1983 , the sign should be dog and it should be pig when you were born on Feb 13, 1983- Feb 1 1984.

Should be Dog. Why? Because it’s before the eve of the new year — Pig’s year. Chinese observe lunar calendar. 1983 is considered to be a Pig’s year. But to be specific, it starts from February 13, 1983 and ends at February 01, 1984.
