How do you feel about astrology?

Dan P asked:

So, I’ve been reading horoscopes and stuff lately and I’m really surprised about how much my horoscopes pertain to me. I’m also a realist person and have always believed in science and logical explanations, but there is none when it comes to astrology……How do you feel when it comes to zodiac signs, partner compatibility, and horoscopes?

You can apply the reading of any sign to any person, it just depends on how badly you want to believe it’s true. That is why the predictions are always so generalized.

They are still interesting, and can often be thought-provoking.

    I call it half-astrology.

“While astrology today is relegated to dubious status in the back pages of newspapers, in the ancient world there was no question as to the impact of the stars on human beings. The power gained through knowledge of astrology was at times troubling and terrifying, but rarely, if ever, discounted. Astrological ideas are reflected in all manner of Greco-Roman, Jewish, and Christian traditions, from the vivid Jewish synagogue floor mosaics to the Star of Bethlehem and the attendant arrival of the Magi to Paul’s use of technical terminology drawn from astrology and beyond.

Given the widespread impact of astrology, then, it is surprising that these traditions have received relatively little scholarly attention. It is our hope to use this year of PSCO to generate an ongoing conversation involving scholars of early Christianity, scholars of early Judaism, and other students of late antiquity in an examination of the role of astrological traditions in the Greco-Roman world, and especially in early Judaism and Christianity.”

Horoscopes are so vague and generalized they can apply to everyone. That’s why they’re bologna.

Who do you think made all those amazing stars? It is no accident that there are millions of stars there. It is the work of GOD’S HANDS THAT MADE THOSE STARS. One Star represented that CHRIST THE KING WOULD BE BORN. SO IN DECEMBER REMEBER CHRIST.

I believe it was an interesting study at some point in time, but not anymore. I can not take daily horoscopes or partner compatibility in “astrology” seriously.

If you believe in science and fact, then let’s look at the fact.

When the astrological signs were being devised, birth months were determined by what sign the sun was in during your birth.

If you were a virgo, the sun was in virgo when you were born. If you were a libra, the sun was in libra, etc.

However, over the thousands of years, the sky has shifted in such a way that it is no longer the case. Now, if you’re a virgo, you can go outside on your birthday and see the virgo constellation. This would have been physically impossible when the signs (and their supposed characteristics) were being developed.

So how can it possibly be accurate beyond your own wishful thinking?

Genesis calls it signs of Yahweh based on Genesis 1:14. The ancient Hebrews practiced a form of Astrology the were the 12 tribes of Israel which stood for the 12 signs of the Mazzaroth. Aaron blew the rams horn it was Ares. The Israelite begin to worship the Golden calf it was Tarsus. Astrology is signs.

I don’t. Call me old fashioned but I still try to use just my faculties of thought and try to sort things that come to me via my five senses.

If there was anything to astrology that really worked don’t you everybody would be consulting the stars?

That sort of thing is really big amongst intellectuals in India and they sure have it all figured out over there don’t they?

It can be really accurate most of the time. But its best to not be lead by it. You make your own destiny. What I do is i go about my day like normal and at the end of the day I read the horoscope and I see if it went with what they day was like. IF you read it in the morning your expecting it to play out so you don’t make your decision based on what you would do but what you read. Its fun to read at night that it played out nicely.

Well, there is science and ALOT of math that goes into Astrology. You’ve got to remember that Astrology is what the Farmer’s Almanac is all about. And it’s statistically right over 90% of the time. I’m a realist as well, but i also believe that we don’t know nearly enough about planets stars and all the dark matter in between. I mean, we don’t even know what the dark matter is made of.

I read something that was Leo (which is me) and Ares. They both pertained to me. I’m sorry but I don’t hold that much faith in the generalized wordings of people working in a basement in California…

Many people in this city do not know whether astrology is true or not, whether it is of God or the Devil; hence they are liable to be deceived, as is every person unless they have the power of revelation within themselves. If there are any brethren here who have been studying astrology, and they were called upon to speak, would they not say that they believed it to be a true science? They would; they testify that they know it to be true. But what does it do for them? It leads them into thousands of errors. Does God ever lead you into error? Is he mistaken when he reveals? No; when he sets you to make calculations and figures, I will insure you that every sum will prove and come out precisely right. The Lord does not deceive people, but astrology and mesmerism do lead them astray. How many deceptions are there in the world? Millions, for a great many spirits have gone forth into the world to deceive the people. Spirit rappings are of the same class.

A form of divination and fortune telling akin to sorcery, astrology is a pseudo science that pretends to divulge the influence of the stars upon human affairs; it is a false science that claims to foretell earthly events by means of the positions and aspects of these heavenly luminaries. It is, of course, one of Satan’s substitutes for the true science of astronomy and for the true principle of receiving revelation of future events from divine sources.

God set the stars in the sky to tell us what is going to happen. As far as telling you your personal future, love life and so on it’s just and bunch of crap.

In my opinion Modern Astrology is looking up in the stars and Naming some planets, and Looking beyond space! yet Old astrology was just like the bible, uncertainty! and insecure! in other words, More questions, less logic answers! and it is so true, Yet, we can still use names of horoscopes to relate the time of the earth and its present, the best old calendar that was built was due to the Mayans, everything evolved around that calender, and it was so perfect that it was only off by 60. seconds! they could also know when the next ECLIPSE would hit! yet thanks to Christianity and Catholicism, we lost most of its culture and Meaning of its use! lastly don’t use Horoscopes for your personal use, use it more as a reflection of your life, in other words, don’t take it to seriously! ^_^ peace!

P.S. just so you know, IM Aquarius, < the water barrier!

I’m a “Capricorn”, everything I have read doesn’t pertain anything to me. I don’t believe anything that is written on those pages. Not only that but when it comes to things like religion, if you are a Christian those things are considered sinful.

    O.K.

Have someone else cut out all the horoscopes, but leave off the zodiac sign and birth date range. Then pull them out randomly and rate how well each one relates you your life.

At the end of a month (or however long you and your friend are willing to do this) have them tie the predictions to the relevant sign and see how accurate they were.

My prediction is that you will have about a 8.3% success rate of matching your sign of the zodiac.

Anyone alive today was NOT born under the supposed sign attributed to the current 12-month calendar. We were all actually born under the sign preceeding it.

Modern astronomy clearly states that the zodiacal constellations now rise a full constellation OFF traditional astrological predictions.

Therefore, if you were born in late March, you are NOT an Aries. You are actually a Pisces.

I think the whole concept of astrology to be silly wishful thinking. The stars and constellations have no affect on peoples lives unless they want to believe that it does, which becomes self-fulfilling.
