The Theologians and astrologers of the past had written down every significant change to the celestial bodies that had occurred over the space of time. Together their hearts jumped as they realized this was no ordinary birth. This child was to be a great king. A God in the form of a man, who has come down from His heavenly kingdom to change the entire course of the world!
This child would fill the whole world with a light of truth. In one accordance they exclaimed we must ‘Catch this Star!’

Since the beginning of time men have looked towards the heavens as a window into the supernatural realm of God. A cosmic appearance of signs and wonders illustrating the past, present and future of our world.

To ‘Catch a Star’ and to understand the significance of its appearing is seeing the plans of God unfold before your eyes. God is a deity of perfect light. All understanding of the things of the world belong to Him. He formed man and placed him on the earth so he would reach for the heavens and learn about the great and mighty wonders of the Lord.
It is no wonder that the birth of Jesus was marked with a glorious star. Light has always been the dwelling place of God. Whenever an image of God is described in the Bible it is always pictured with a supernatural deity in white that is brighter than a flash of lightning.
Daniel 10: 5&6, “I looked up and saw someone who was wearing linen clothes and belt of fine gold. His body shone like a jewel. His face was as bright as a flash of lightning, and his eyes blazed like fire. His arms and legs shone like polished bronze, and his voice sounded like the roar of a great crowd.”
Jesus brought a message of truth by representing himself in light. Light is everything good, trustworthy and honest. Light is the radiance of God. Light is the words of Jesus that are spoken to save those who choose to follow God’s path for man. To ‘Catch a Star’ is to find the light of Jesus and allow Him to guide our lives.
Today we once again are looking towards the heavens. Religious leaders and scientist proclaim in one accord that our world is reaching a critical stage with moral decay and global warming. If there ever was a time to ‘catch a star’ by believing in Jesus Christ as our Savior, now is the time! Jesus must return again in physical form to defeat Satan’s hold over the world.
The question all of us should be asking ourselves is whether or not He will find us ready. Are we walking a life that will please our Savior? Are we following the “Golden Rule; Love your neighbor as you love yourself”. Or have we been pulled into the world only thinking of ourselves and what we can do to get more stuff?
Matthew 24: 37-39, “The coming of the Son of Man will be like what happened in the time of Noah. In the days before the flood people ate and drank, men and women married, up to the very day Noah went into the boat; yet they did not realize what was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man comes.”
Scientists warn us that our over use of fossil fuels, to the emission from factories and electrical plants, are warming the earth. They state that the polar ice caps are melting at a faster rate than anyone could have predicted. They point out the fires in California to the drought in Alabama is all the result of global warming. A warming that is upsetting the natural balance of the world.
Crimes are up. School shootings, mall murders, and churches are targets of disgruntled teenagers who are dissatisfied with their lives and so they take it out on innocent people. Bankruptcies to foreclosures are mounting with families being left out in the cold because they can’t make enough money to pay their bills.
We live in perilous times fearing our neighbors and being afraid to pick up a stranger whose stranded on the side of the road. Children are born out of lust and teenage pregnancy has sky rocketed. The rich are hording their wealth and the poor are going without medical care and medicine, because they must have food.
Before the birth of Jesus, suffering existed in our world, but not to the degree that it does now. We are more knowledgeable because of the media, yet truth has not made our world a better place. People are indifferent to their neighbors and only interested in themselves.
It is not surprising that the wise men of our time are once again looking towards the heavens. They are desperately looking for the star that signifies Jesus’ return. Even the nation of Israel is pleading through constant songs on the radio and TV for the return of the Messiah.
If we are wise then we will listen to the message of Christ for He is our only hope in a world that has been so corrupted. Christ will give us the power to face all difficulties with victories, because we know that we are living for His kingdom and not just ourselves.
Matthew 24: 29-31 “Soon After the trouble of those days, the sun will grow dark, the moon will no longer shine, the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers in space will be driven from their courses. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky; and all the peoples of the earth will weep as they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. The great trumpet will sound, and he will send out angels to the four corners of the earth, and they will gather his chosen people from one end of the world to the other.”
Look to the sky! Recognize the times and ‘Catch The Star of Jesus Christ’. He loves you and He promises to give all people who follow Him an eternal reward in Heaven!
